NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team (14-4, 4-0 SUNYAC) extended its home winning streak to 30 Saturday afternoon at the Hawk Center, hosting State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) East Division Pool Play. The Hawks downed division rival SUNY Cortland in four sets (25-14, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19) and handled SUNY Potsdam, 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-15).

New Paltz's last loss on its home floor came against Cortland nearly four years ago. The Red Dragons prevailed, 3-1, against the blue and orange on Oct. 21, 2006.

Sophomore right side Michelle Jacobson (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and senior middle hitter Dana Kindelmann (Nesconset, N.Y.) led the charge against the Red Dragons in Saturday's edition of the rivalry, compiling 18 and 16 kills, respectively, in a matchup between the two SUNYAC Championship finalists from 2009. Freshman setter Marissa King (Canandaigua, N.Y.) dished out a team-high 31 assists, while junior outside hitter Melinda DiGiovanna (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and freshman libero Carrie Hack (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) reinforced the defense with 19 digs each.

The Bears could not keep up with a red-hot New Paltz attack, as the Hawks hit at a .354 clip against Potsdam in the nightcap. While sophomore outside hitter Kelly Lavender (Apalachin, N.Y.) led all players with 10 kills, it was the efficient attacking of sophomore middle hitters Dana Vosilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Laura Stanhewicz (Warwick, N.Y.), Jacobson and Kindelmann that propelled the blue and orange to an easy 3-0 win. Each of them hit above .500 on the match and took at least seven swings. Hack proved dominant on the defensive front, reeling in a match-high 18 digs.

The Hawks face Hunter College on Wednesday, Sept. 29, in their second-to-last home match of the regular season. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in the Hawk Center.
