SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team (15-8) won each of its matches in straight sets on the second and final day of the Tom Hay Invitational on the campus of Springfield College Saturday. The Hawks defeated the Stevens Institute of Technology, 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-15), before topping Plymouth State University, 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-18).
For their efforts across all four matches over the weekend, senior outside hitter
Melinda DiGiovanna (West Hempstead, N.Y./West Hempstead) and junior middle hitter
Dana Vosilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Against Stevens, junior middle hitter
Laura Stanhewicz (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) led the way with 11 kills and three blocks (one solo, two assist), while DiGiovanna offered a solid line of nine kills, 12 digs and four blocks (one solo, three assist). Sophomore setter

Carrie Hack (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) registered 11 digs. Vosilla also provided reinforcement on the front row, tallying seven kills and two block assists.
In the Plymouth State match, Stanhewicz floored a team-high 12 kills, while King handed out 40 assists. Hack and DiGiovanna collected 21 and 18 digs, respectively, while Vosilla boasted two block assists.
New Paltz next competes at the Stevens Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 15, squaring off with Averett University and Stevens.
