Box Score

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The inability to score in the second half wound up being the difference for the State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team (5-5, 0-3 SUNYAC) on Tuesday afternoon against SUNY Oneonta (2-9, 2-2 SUNYAC), losing by a 16-5 final in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game.

Junior midfielder Julia Donato (Fayetteville, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game at 27:38 of the first half to give New Paltz a 1-0 lead, but Oneonta's Rebecca Monteith netted the equalizer just nine seconds later. The Red Dragons scored again at 22:09 of the first half, and senior midfielder Bridgitte Hooker (Glens Falls, N.Y.) tied the score at 2-all with a goal less than a minute later. Sophomore attack player Juli Rehain (Suffern, N.Y.) put the Hawks up, 3-2, but Oneonta buried four unanswered scores to give the Red Dragons a 6-3 advantage. From that point forward, the game was never in question, as the home team took a 9-5 lead into the break and held the Hawks scoreless in the second half.

Oneonta outshot New Paltz, 40-27, and controlled 15 draws to the Hawks' eight. New Paltz was 11-of-15 on clear attempts, while Oneonta was a near-perfect 15-of-16.

Senior midfielder Brittany Bennett (Smithtown, N.Y.) led the Hawk offense with two goals, while Hooker, Rehain and Donato each scored once. Junior attack player Samantha DelGaudio (Northport, N.Y.) boasted two assists, while Rehain had one, and Hooker tied for the game-high in ground balls with five. In goal, junior goalkeeper Stefanie Mignone (Farmingville, N.Y.) turned aside 16 shots in the losing effort.
