Box Score

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey team (3-5) held an early advantage over Richard Stockton College (5-3), but could not hold on as the Hawks dropped a 2-1 decision to the Ospreys on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Hawks were able to strike first early in the first half, when sophomore forward Alana Costenbader (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) scored off of an assist from sophomore defender Alyssa Stock (Morris Plains, N.J./Whippany Park) in the sixth minute. New Paltz was able to hold that lead through halftime.

At 38:31, Richard Stockton leveled the game when Brittany Iveson took a Megan Irving pass and beat sophomore goalkeeper Antonija Pjetri (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) to the cage. The game would remain tied until 48:37, when Alicia Leadbeater took Iveson's second assist of the day and scored the game-winning goal.

Pjetri finished the game with six saves of 16 Osprey shot opportunities. Liz Stankiewicz recorded a game-high eight stops in between the posts for Richard Stockton. Stock and sophomore forward Asia O'Han (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook) each recorded a defensive save for the Hawks.

The Hawks continue play in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) on Friday, Sept. 30, when they face SUNY Oswego in Oswego, N.Y. at 4 p.m.
