NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Angelica Glover scored in the 95th minute, lifting New Jersey City University (3-0-0) over the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team (1-2-0) in overtime. The Gothic Knights prevailed by a count of 1-0 on the second and final day of the Michelle Vargas-Robin Memorial Tournament Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Both squads had won, 8-0, over their Saturday opponents, but offense was hard to come by in this battle of two evenly-matched teams. Fatigue set in during the middle portions of the game, which led to just a 14-11 shot margin in favor of New Paltz on the afternoon.

After a first half that saw New Paltz neutralizing potent Gothic Knight scorers, New Jersey City saw slightly more offensive production in the second stanza. Notably, Julia Caseres, who has 199 career points, was held scoreless, unleashing just three shots (one on goal).

Angelica Glover headed in a cross from Jennifer Albuja in the fifth minute of overtime, and that came after Albuja forced junior goalkeeper Stephanie Vega (Oceanside, N.Y./Baldwin Senior) into action just two minutes prior.

Brittany Hoffman recorded a three-save shutout for the Gothic Knights, while Vega shouldered the loss in net for the Hawks in a two-save effort.

In the 11 a.m. game, SUNY Canton bested SUNY Maritime, 4-1. New Jersey City serves as the champion of the tournament, going 2-0 on the weekend. Canton and New Paltz each went 1-1, while Maritime was winless at 0-2.

The Hawks seek to even their record on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m., contesting non-conference Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J.
