Carrie Hack (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) of the State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team broke the program's all-time digs record in its second match of the day, as the Hawks (24-7, 4-2 SUNYAC East) went 1-1 on the first day of the second round of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) East Division Pool Play Friday at the Hawk Center. The Hawks topped SUNY Plattsburgh, 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-14), before falling, 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 16-25, 26-24, 15-12), to SUNY Oneonta.

The match against Oneonta was a back-and-forth affair, with the Red Dragons coming out hot in the first set before New Paltz came back to win sets two and three by respective scores of 25-21 and 25-16. Oneonta forced a fifth set by winning the fourth stanza, 26-24, and it hit .346 in the fifth set to emerge with a 15-12 triumph in the deciding frame.

The Hawks look to get back on track tomorrow afternoon, as it hosts 11th-ranked SUNY Cortland at 10 a.m. followed by a 2 p.m. match against SUNY Potsdam. The top three teams from each SUNYAC division qualify for the SUNYAC Tournament. If New Paltz wins one match tomorrow, it locks up the East Division's No. 2 seed.
