New Paltz Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Past Southern Vermont, Baruch on Day 1 of Skidmore Tournament

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team (29-7) strengthened its résumé on Friday night on day one of the Skidmore Tournament, defeating Southern Vermont College (20-5), 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-15), before topping Baruch College (22-8), 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-14).

Against Southern Vermont, senior middle hitter Dana Vosilla had seven kills and two blocks, while senior outside hitter Michelle Jacobson (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) boasted a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs. Junior setter Marissa King (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) dished out a team-high 25 assists as well.

In the nightcap against Baruch, Vosilla collected 11 kills and two blocks, while King handed out 42 assists to go along with her eight digs. Jacobson totaled 13 kills and 11 digs against the Bearcats.

The Hawks complete play at the Skidmore Tournament tomorrow, squaring off with Union (N.Y.) College at 1 p.m. and host Skidmore College at 3 p.m.
