INDIANAPOLIS – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team (32-8) qualified for its third NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Tournament in program history on Monday, as the Hawks received one of 20 Pool "C" bids into the 2012 edition of the tournament. New Paltz will face Skidmore College (26-7) in the first round at Clarkson University on Friday, Nov. 9, at 12:30 p.m.

Other first-round matchups in the regional include Colby-Sawyer College (18-13) against SUNY Cortland (33-5); Middlebury College (22-6) against Southern Vermont College (24-6); and Nazareth College (22-14) against Clarkson (28-6). The winner of New Paltz's first-round match will play either Colby-Sawyer or Cortland on Saturday, Nov. 10.

The Hawks already have beaten Skidmore this year, as they topped the Thoroughbreds, 3-0, on Oct. 27. New Paltz is familiar with the teams in this year's regional at Clarkson, as it has faced Cortland, Colby-Sawyer, Southern Vermont and Clarkson this season in addition to Skidmore. The Hawks have a combined 4-2 record against teams in their regional this year.

New Paltz returns to the NCAA Tournament after a two-year absence. The Hawks qualified in 2008, advancing to the national quarterfinals, and in 2009, advancing to the second round. All-time, the Hawks are 4-2 in the NCAA Tournament.

The Hawks earned an at-large bid despite the fact that they missed the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Volleyball Tournament final for the first time since 2007. New Paltz fell in straight sets to Buffalo State in the semifinal round.
