NORFOLK, Va. – The road from SUNY New Paltz to Ulster County Community College to Norfolk State University to this year's NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament has been a circuitous route for Spartans head coach Anthony Evans.
The former Ulster head coach and SUNY New Paltz assistant is preparing to lead his 15th-seeded Spartans to take on No. 2 seed Missouri on Friday in Omaha, Neb.
Evans, who has been at Norfolk State for the past nine years and took over as the head coach five years ago, showered praise on his team for their first-ever Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title and 20-win season.
