New Paltz Field Hockey Pins 3-0 Setback on Ramapo

Box Score

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey team (3-2) outshot visiting Ramapo College (1-3), 34-1, on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest at the Turf Field en route to a 3-0 victory. The Hawks scored once in the first half and twice in the second stanza to seal the win.

Junior midfielder Lauren Link (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown West) scored the first goal of the contest in the 14th minute, finding the back of the cage unassisted.

After one half of play, New Paltz controlled the momentum, but had little to show for it with a 1-0 tally. The team's dominance carried over to the second half, though, a period in which it scored twice.

Junior forward Alicia Aragosa (Schenectady, N.Y./Niskayuna) netted her third goal of the year in the 54th minute, while junior defender Alyssa Stock (Morris Plains, N.J./Whippany Park) tallied her second marker of the season with 30 seconds remaining in the game. Both goals were unassisted.

Junior goalkeeper Antonija Pjetri (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) earned the shutout win—her third of the campaign—by making one stop. Her counterpart, Rebecca Elliott, made 15 saves.

New Paltz continues its home stand on Friday, Sept. 21, when it hosts SUNY Oswego at 4 p.m. in its State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener.
