ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team (5-1) defeated Medaille College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-15), before sweeping D'Youville College, 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-17), on Friday evening on the first day of the University of Rochester Volleyball Invitational at the Zornow Sports Center.
Against the Mavericks, senior middle hitter 
Dana Vosilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) led the way with 12 kills in 15 total attempts for a scorching .800 hitting percentage. Vosilla also added one block assist to her statistical line. Senior outside hitter 
Michelle Jacobson (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) boasted 10 kills and hit .320, while freshman outside hitter 
Becca Borquist (Rhinebeck, N.Y./Rhinebeck) floored nine kills and hit .444. Defensively, junior libero 
Carrie Hack (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) had a team-high 14 digs, while Borquist and sophomore libero 
Katy Herbst (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) contributed 11 and 10, respectively. Junior setter 
Marissa King (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) handed out 41 assists and landed three service aces, while junior middle hitter 
Liz Hauser (East Williston, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) registered three service aces as well.
Herbst's six service aces led the way in the nightcap against D'Youville, and the squad hit .517 in the second set. Vosilla had a match-high eight kills, while King doled out 19 assists. Jacobson had the team's lone double-digit dig total with 10.
The Hawks complete action at the tournament tomorrow, as they square off with the host University of Rochester at 11 a.m. before facing Hamilton College at 1 p.m.
