NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team looks to start its dual-meet schedule off with a win on Saturday, Nov. 2, as it takes on Ramapo College at 1 p.m. in its home opener at Elting Pool.
Records: New Paltz is 0-0 entering Saturday's meet, while Ramapo is 1-1 overall (0-1 NJAC).
Scouting the Hawks: New Paltz placed second out of six teams at the Union Relays hosted by Union (N.Y.) College last Saturday… The Hawks posted five relay victories in the nine-event swimming program… The 400 medley relay squad of sophomore

Krista VerMeersch clocked an event-winning 3:37.33 just two events later… New Paltz bounced back from a third-place result in the 300 butterfly relay, as the 500 freestyle crescendo relay quartet of sophomore

Cassidy Griger, Scalise and Allocco charted a first-place 4:54.70… The Hawks followed that up in the 200 freestyle relay with another event victory, as Papetti, Griger, Graffin and Scalise combined for a time of 1:43.02… Finally, in the last event of the meet, Griger, Graffin, O'Connor and Scalise teamed up to post the winning standard of 3:46.45 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Scouting the Roadrunners: Ramapo fell, 164.5-92.5, to The College of New Jersey last Saturday in Ewing, N.J… Freshman Brenda Arthur set a school record in the 100 butterfly when she clocked in at 1:01.52 for a second-place finish… Junior Lauren Keller took home a first-place result in the 50 freestyle when she touched the wall at 25.39… Keller placed second overall in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.34, while she also captured a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.21… Junior Kylie Suydam placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle when she clocked in at 11:50.00… Sophomore Megan Fosko placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.74.

Colleen Stewart each won multiple individual events for the Hawks in the win… Allocco placed first in the 1,000 freestyle (11:11.57) and the 500 freestyle (5:31.79), while Stewart touched first in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.50) and the 200 breaststroke (2:37.83)… Stewart added a first-place finish by joining then senior

Victoria Scalise topped the field in the 100 freestyle (55.07) and Suzuka charted the fastest time in the 200 backstroke (2:15.00)… Graffin and Griger won the 100 butterfly (1:03.74) and 200 individual medley (2:20.52), respectively, but the pair did not score points, as the Hawks had declared their entries as exhibition at that point… Seniors

Anna Jakubek, Suzuka and Scalise teamed up to clock the fastest time in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.56) at the end of the meet, but the foursome did not score points, as the relay was entered as exhibition.

What's Next: New Paltz competes at the NYU Invitational next from Friday-Saturday, Nov. 8-9, at New York University in Manhattan. Friday's session beings at 5 p.m., while Saturday features a prelim/final format with start times of each session at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. Ramapo hosts the New Jersey Institute of Technology next on Saturday at 2 p.m.
