Women's Basketball Travels to Mount Saint Mary for Tuesday Game

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team will make a short trip on the New York State Thruway to Newburgh on Tuesday, Nov. 26, as the Hawks face Mount Saint Mary College for a 6 p.m. non-conference game.

Records: The Hawks enter Saturday's game with an 0-4 record following a 69-59 loss to the Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon... Mount Saint Mary has an 0-4 record following an 88-72 loss to Norwich University on Saturday.

Scouting the Hawks: New Paltz was tied 35-35 at halftime against Stevens, but the Ducks went on a 17-5 run in the first 8:29 of the second half to build a 12-point lead that the Hawks couldn't overcome…  Junior guard Shannan Walker led the Hawks in scoring with 14 points and four assists… Junior guard Ashley Riefenhauser tallied 11 points… Freshman forward Courtney Irby led New Paltz with a game-high six rebounds… 

Statistical Leaders: Sophomore guard Goldie Harrison leads the Hawks in scoring (10.5 ppg), followed by Walker (10.3 ppg)… Harrison leads in assists (2.8 apg) and steals (3.3 spg), which ranks second in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)... Irby leads New Paltz in rebounding (10.3 rpg), which ranks second in the SUNYAC after four games.

Scouting Mount Saint Mary: The Knights dropped an 88-72 decision to Norwich University on Saturday afternoon... The Knights led just once in Saturday's contest…The Knights were led by the Perrone sisters, Rachel and Jessica, who each scored 22 points on the afternoon... Jessica Perrone pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Mount and pick up her first double-double of the season.

Statistical Leaders: Rachel leads the team in scoring (12.8 ppg), followed by Jessica (11.5 rpg)… The sisters reverse those statistics in rebounding, with Jessica leading in rebounding (8.0 rpg) and Rachel following (7.8 rpg).

Last Meeting: (Box Score): In its first game back after the New Year, the Hawks picked up right where they left off with a 63-48 victory over the Knights on Jan. 4, 2013 at the Hawk Center, improving to a perfect 10-0 on the season, the longest winning streak to start the season… Then senior forward Alex McCullough scored a game-high 20 points, and added five rebounds and three steals on the evening… Then senior guard Maliqua Fisher contributed 12 points, five boards and stole the ball four times…. Then sophomore guard Shannan Walker and then junior guard Alyssa Gratien tied for the team lead with four assists.

What's Next: New Paltz will host Western Connecticut State University at the Hawk Center on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m… Mount Saint Mary travels to the College of Staten Island for a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
