ONEONTA, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team (4-7, 0-5 SUNYAC) dropped a 19-8 verdict to SUNY Oneonta (8-6, 3-3 SUNYAC) in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game on Tuesday afternoon.
Oneonta held a 39-15 edge in shots and also outgained New Paltz by a 43-21 margin in ground balls. The Hawks did, however, control 16 draws to the Red Dragons' 13, while both teams were strong on clear attempts. New Paltz went 18-for-22 on clears, while Oneonta went 24-for-26.

Carissa Citro (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) and sophomore midfielder
Lianne Valdivia (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston), each of whom scored two goals. Junior attack player
Talia Tesler (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton), senior attack player
Erin Tornatore (Glen Cove, N.Y./North Shore) and sophomore attack player
Kelsey Healy (Central Islip, N.Y./Bay Shore) and freshman attack player
Alexa Vitale (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall Central) also scored for the Hawks. Citro chipped in with two assists, while Vitale, Valdivia, Tornatore and sophomore midfielder
Julia Johnson (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) each added one. Citro and Healy scooped up four ground balls apiece.
Kiera McNally sparked the Red Dragon attack with six goals, while Jillian Donodeo found the back of the net five times. Chelsea Collins dished out a game-high four assists, while Marissa Makar helped Oneonta gain possession with a game-high six ground balls.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Jackie Ulanoff (Northport, N.Y./Northport) suffered the loss in between the pipes, making 12 saves, while Oneonta played three different goalkeepers in the victory that combined for five stops.
Oneonta never trailed in the contest, but New Paltz kept it close in the first 16 minutes of play. After the Red Dragons took a 4-2 lead, Citro and Valdivia scored back-to-back goals to knot the score at 4-all. Oneonta, however, went on a five-goal tear, and an unassisted McNally marker pushed the tally to 9-4. The Red Dragons entered halftime with a 10-5 edge.
Oneonta cruised during the second half, scoring six of the period's first seven goals. After Vitale broke up the run with a goal off a Tornatore pass with 12:03 to go in the game, Randal Cook netted two scores for Oneonta. Tesler scored the Hawks' final goal of the contest with 5:11 remaining, cashing in on a Johnson feed, while McNally found the back of the net with three seconds left to spell out the final score.
New Paltz returns to action on Saturday, April 20, at 1 p.m. as they host No. 4 SUNY Cortland in its 2013 home finale.
