POTSDAM, N.Y. – SUNY Potsdam (3-3, 1-0 SUNYAC) scored with one second remaining in regulation to force overtime, as the State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team (3-3, 0-2 SUNYAC) fell, 15-14, following a single overtime period in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest Tuesday afternoon at Maxcy Turf Field.
New Paltz held a 13-10 advantage midway through the second half, but Potsdam made a late push to force overtime. Bailey Weigel scored unassisted with 15:59 to go in the second half to trim the deficit to two, and a pair of goals in the final 1:31 of play knotted the tally at the end of regulation. Margaret Wall netted an unassisted marker with 1:31 left, while Bri McClusky scored unassisted with one second to go.
Whitney Boshart found the back of the net 40 seconds into the overtime period, but junior attack player
Talia Tesler (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) tied the score at 14-all with 1:56 remaining in the stanza. Denise Johns put away the eventual game-winner with 1:16 left on the clock, and the Bears were able to hold New Paltz scoreless down the stretch.

Alexa Vitale (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall Central) provided the halftime tally of 9-5 with a goal 1:14 before the intermission.
Potsdam opened up the second half by scoring two straight goals, but Healy pushed the margin back out to three with 26:23 remaining in regulation. Wall scored before Healy and Valdivia swelled the Hawk edge to four. Emily Petit and Whitney Boshart made it a two-goal game before Tornatore responded by scoring just 16 seconds after Boshart's marker.
New Paltz held the upper hand in shots (37-35) and draw controls (19-13), but the Bears outgained the Hawks, 34-25, in ground balls. New Paltz went 13-of-19 on clear attempts, while Potsdam went 11-of-19.
Healy paced the Hawk offense with five goals, while Tornatore and Valdivia scored three times each. Tesler contributed two markers, while Vitale scored once. Tesler and Valdivia helped out the offense with four and three assists, respectively, while Healy and sophomore midfielder

For Potsdam, Wall netted five goals, while Boshart, McClusky, Johns and Weigel each scored twice. Petit and Varney also found the back of the net for the Bears. Weigel came up with seven draw controls, while Wall and Maggie McCabe totaled five ground balls apiece.
Ulanoff suffered the loss in goal for the Hawks, making eight stops, while her counterpart, Jen Chmiel, tallied 11 saves in the winning effort.
New Paltz looks to right the ship on Saturday, April 6, as it faces SUNY Fredonia at 1 p.m. in Fredonia, N.Y.
