Gary Gall Appointed Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

NEW PALTZ, N.Y.Gary Gall, who spent the past two seasons as a strength & conditioning graduate assistant at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., has been named the head strength & conditioning coach at the State University of New York at New Paltz, as announced Tuesday by director of athletics Stuart Robinson.

"We are excited to have Gary join the department," Robinson said. "Given the increasing awareness and importance of strength and conditioning at schools like ours, Gary's experience, passion and willingness to challenge and to help students improve in this area allowed him to stand out amongst a group of deeply qualified applicants. I have every confidence that Gary will help to add another positive dimension to the student-athlete experience here at New Paltz."

Gall began working at Northern State in August of 2011 and just completed his second season as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant. While there, he successfully oversaw training for 15 NCAA Division II men's and women's collegiate teams; maintained daily operations of the Fitness Center, including the hiring and supervising of a 10-person student staff; designed and implemented strength-training routines and exercise demonstrations and assisted with nutritional planning and guidance for student-athletes.

Prior to Northern State, Gall worked as the head strength & conditioning coach for the NEPA Miners of the Empire Football League (EFL) from April to August of 2011. His professional career began in November of 2010 when he served as a training and development intern with the U.S. Navy.

Gall is a USA Weightlifting (USAW) Level 1 club coach and is an International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) nationally-certified personal trainer. In addition, he is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

"I'm excited to come to New Paltz and be a part of the athletics program," Gall said. "I'm also excited to build a strength & conditioning program at the College."

Gall earned his Bachelor of Arts in communication studies from Susquehanna University in 2009 and received his Master of Science in sport performance & leadership from Northern State in 2013. As an undergraduate at Susquehanna, he competed on the Crusaders' varsity football team for four seasons and was a three-year letter winner.
