NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's swimming team looks to add two more wins to its record on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24 and 25. The Hawks will take on Mount Saint Mary College in their final home meet of the season on Friday, Jan. 24, at 6 p.m. at Elting Pool. On Saturday, Jan. 25, the Hawks will travel to Oneonta, N.Y., to compete against SUNY Oneonta at 1 p.m.
RECORDS: New Paltz heads into this weekend with a 1-5 record, while Mount Saint Mary is 4-5 and Oneonta is 4-2.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (1-5): New Paltz is coming off a big win, as it upset defending SUNYAC champion SUNY Cortland, 144-101, in a dual meet on Friday, Jan. 17… Sophomore
Rod Taskindoust claimed wins in the 200 freestyle (1:50.40), the 50 freestyle (23.26) and the 100 butterfly (57.19) as a triple-event winner individually for the Hawks... Junior
Jack Spader also had a successful meet, capturing victories in two individual events, the 1,000 freestyle (10:43.94) and the 500 freestyle (5:07.01)... Freshman

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (4-5): Mount Saint Mary swam to a 126-67 victory over the Farleigh Dickinson-College at Florham on Tuesday, Jan. 14… The Knights took home a first-place finish in each of the day's events, sparked by the 200 medley relay team of sophomore Sam Watson, junior Ryan Murray, senior Conor Dowd and senior Mark Bohlinger, as they combined for a winning time of 2:30.00 in the opening event…Dowd, Bohlinger and Watson all went on to each capture a pair of wins: Dowd in the 200 freestyle (2:01.50) and the 100 butterfly (1:02.05), Bohlinger in the 50 freestyle (24.46) and the 100 freestyle (55.41) and Watson in the 200 individual medley (2:22.82) and the 100 backstroke (59.42)… Sophomore Christoper Sagan also picked up individual wins in the 1,000 freestyle (12:14.09), the 500 freestyle (5:50.24) and the 100 breaststroke (1:09.97)… Segan was named the Skyline Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week for the week ending Jan. 20, 2014, due to his efforts in the pool.
LAST MEETING: Friday marks the first-ever meeting between New Paltz and Mount Saint Mary.
SCOUTING THE RED DRAGONS (4-2): Oneonta defeated The College at Brockport, 144-89, in a dual-meet victory on Saturday, Jan. 18…Junior Colton Roe set a pool record with a time of 1:56.33 in the 200 backstroke…Seniors Jermaine Miller and John Rein each took home a pair of wins for the Red Dragons: Miller in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events scoring 257.75 and 274.50 points, respectively, and Rein in the 200 freestyle (1:48.81) and 100 freestyle (49.30)... Senior Ryan Walsh took first in the 50 freestyle (22.72), while sophomore Lucas Santiago won the 400 individual medley in 4:23.49... Roe, Walsh and Rein, along with freshman Connor Kelly, combined to win the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:38.62.
