NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's volleyball team is gearing up for the final State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pool Play weekend at SUNY Fredonia from Friday-Saturday, Oct. 24-25.
RECORDS: The Hawks are 22-5, 6-0 SUNYAC and have won five of six matches… Fredonia is 19-7, 6-0 SUNYAC… SUNY Geneseo is 17-4, 4-2 SUNYAC… SUNY Oswego is 17-12, 3-3 SUNYAC.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (22-5, 6-0): New Paltz went 2-1 at the Osprey Classic hosted by Richard Stockton College last weekend, winning a pair of 3-2 matches against Springfield College and Swarthmore College… The winner of the New Paltz and Fredonia match on Friday will determine the No. 1 seed and host in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament from Nov. 7-9… The Hawks defeated Fredonia 3-1 earlier this season on Sept. 12 in the Hawk Invitational... New Paltz has yet to drop a set in conference action this year… Junior outside hitter

SCOUTING GENESEO (17-4, 4-2): The Knights have won six of eight matches… Geneseo went 2-1 at the last SUNYAC weekend, defeating Cortland and Potsdam and falling to Oneonta… The Knights have also defeated Plattsburgh and Brockport this season… Junior middle Paige Pendleton leads the SUNYAC in hitting percentage (.351) with sophomore middle blocker Courtney Cleary in second place (.339)… Pendleton also leads the league in blocks per set (3.13)… In fact, the top four block leaders in the SUNYAC are from Geneseo (Pendleton, junior right side hitter Ericka Dannenfelser, junior middle blocker Paige O'Connor and Cleary).
