NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's soccer team is back on the road again for a midweek non-conference match, taking on Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday Oct. 7, at 7 p.m.

RECORDS: The Hawks enter the game at 3-7-1 overall, while the Western Connecticut State Colonials are 4-6-1.
 


SCOUTING THE HAWKS (3-7-1): The Hawks look to bounce back after dropping two State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) games over the weekend at SUNY Geneseo, 3-1, and at The College at Brockport, 4-0… The Hawks recorded 19 combined shots over the weekend… New Paltz is in search of its first away win of the year.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Junior forward Jason Gonzalez leads the New Paltz offense with 10 points, four goals, two assists, and 27 shots… Gonzalez ranks in the top 10 in the SUNYAC in shots, points and goals… Freshman forward Gino Scardino has three goals, followed by five players with at least one goal… Freshman midfielder Jon Pugach and senior defender Stephen Browne each also have two assists, followed by six players each with one assist… Senior goalkeeper Steven Domino has started seven games, making 36 saves with a .766 save percentage.

TEAM STATISTICS: New Paltz has outshot opponents, 168-148, with 76 being on goal… New Paltz averages 15.5 shots a game… The Hawks also hold the advantage in corner kicks, 68-49.
 


SCOUTING THE COLONIALS (4-6-1): Western Connecticut State is coming off of a 1-0 loss in a home contest against Plymouth State University on Sunday, Oct. 5… The Colonials fired off 13 shots and earned a corner kick in the contest… Freshman goalkeeper Austin Tierney made five saves… Western Connecticut is 3-4-1 at home.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Freshman forward Shane Pugliese leads the team in points with 12, scoring five goals and assisting two while firing off 27 shots… Sophomore forward Cole Hyla also has five goals with one assist, shooting 18 times… Three players have at least two goals, with two players having tallied one each… Five different players have recorded two assists each, with three players each recording one… Tierney has started all 11 games, making 60 saves with a .769 save percentage.

TEAM STATISTICS: Western Connecticut has scored 19 goals and has recorded 160 shots, 72 of them being on goal... The Colonials have also earned 37 corner kicks.

LAST MEETING: New Paltz grabbed its first win of 2013 with 2-1 victory over Western Connecticut on Sept. 18, 2013.
