NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team will host Vassar College in its 2014-15 home opener on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m.
RECORDS: New Paltz defeated Oswego 150-53 on Saturday for its first dual meet victory… Vassar fell to Liberty League foe Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Saturday, 187.5-103.5.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (1-0): Seniors
Kat Buyes and
Samantha Granan each posted two victories against Oswego… Buyes won the 200 freestyle (2:03.59) and the 500 freestyle (5:31.59), while Granan took first in the 200 individual medley (2:20.33) and the 100 breaststroke (1:10.74)… Sophomore
Ann Fici won the 1,000 freestyle (11:25.87), freshman
Megan Joseph touched first in the 50 freestyle (25.80), junior
Casey O'Connor claimed the 100 freestyle (57.52) and freshman
Molly McCulloch topped the field in the 100 backstroke (1:03.79) to round out the Hawks' individual winners… The 200 medley relay team of O'Connor, Granan, junior
Maggie Heaton and junior
Cassidy Griger charted a winning time of 1:54.97, while the 200 freestyle relay squad of McCulloch, Joseph, junior

Krista VerMeersch clocked the top standard of 1:42.91.
SCOUTING THE BREWERS (2-2): Vassar is 2-2 on the season, picking up wins against Bard College and Skidmore College … Sophomore Julia Cunningham posted a season-high and NCAA B-Cut qualifying time in the 200 butterfly with a mark of 2:07.39, breaking the 2:08.59 requirement… In the 100 butterfly, junior Milee Nelson placed second (1:03.81) and senior Zoe Fullerton took third (1:06.89)… Senior Kelly Wilkinson placed second in the three-meter dive with a score of 244.57 while taking third in the one-meter event with a score of 239.09… Vassar placed seventh of 10 teams at the 2013 Liberty League Championships.
LAST DUAL MEET: New Paltz fell 144-135 to Vassar when these two teams last met on Nov. 23, 2013.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Hawks will compete in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from Dec. 5-7… Vassar will gear up for the Liberty League Championships on Dec. 5-6 held at the University of Rochester.
