NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – After a shift in location due to poor field conditions at the original site, the State University of New York at New Paltz softball team will start its 2014 season with a trip down South to Salem, Va., for the 2014 Beach Blast in the Mountains Softball Classic, hosted by Roanoke College at the James Moyer Complex. From Saturday, March 1, to Sunday, March 2, the Hawks will compete in four predetermined games.

Shayna Burgess: .347 batting average, 43 hits, 35 runs scored, 15 hit by pitches, 10 doubles, .456 on-base percentage and 12 stolen bases; senior first baseman
Chelsea Kull: .331 batting average, 42 hits, 21 RBI, .472 slugging percentage, eight doubles, two triples and two home runs; junior infielder/pitcher
