NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team will look to continue it's promising start to the 2014 season when the Hawks travel to Kean University for a 4 p.m. game against the Cougars on Wednesday, March 19 at Kean Alumni Stadium.
RECORDS: New Paltz enters the contest with a 2-0 record… Kean has a 4-1 record.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (2-0): Down 8-6 at halftime against Hartwick on Saturday afternoon, New Paltz played inspired lacrosse in roaring back to earn a 14-13 comeback victory… The Hawks earned the victory by committing just four second half turnovers, going and perfect 10-for-10 on clears and securing the ball for the final 2:19 of the contest after Hartwick had drawn within 14-13 with 3:23 to play… Back-to-back goals from junior midfielder
Lianne Valdivia, at the 23:19 and 20:53 marks of the second half pushed New Paltz into an 11-10 lead that held firm, even though Hartwick got within one goal on two occasions… Valdivia had four goals in the contest, including her 100th career point at New Paltz.
NEW PALTZ STATISTICS: The season is merely two games old, but Valdivia already has scored 10 goals with an assist for 11 points… Senior attack
Talia Tesler has nine goals and a team-best 22 shots and junior midfielder

SCOUTING THE COUGARS (4-1): Kean started the season 4-0 … The Cougars were handed their first loss of the season, 15-13 against Meredith College at Hilton Head, S.C. on March 13… Meredith scored seven of the first eight second half goals to earn a 14-6 lead… In their first four victories of the season, Kean totaled 69 goals, an average of 17.25 per contest.
KEAN STATISTICS: Four Kean players have double-digit goals this season, led by sophomore midfielder Jordan Blanda with 17, followed by junior attack Maggie Brocklenbank with 16 (and a team-best nine assists), senior midfielder Ciara Mastrodomenico and senior attack Julie Knodt with 10 each… Blanda leads the team with 14 ground balls… In goal, sophomore goalie Daniella Wagenti has a 3-0 record… She has made 15 saves with a 3.71 goals against average.
LAST MEETING: The Hawks lost to Kean 8-2 on a game played in Union, N.J. on April 15, 2003.
