NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – After five straight road games, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team will play its home opener, hosting SUNY Potsdam in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest at Turf Field on April 1 at 3:00 p.m.
RECORDS: New Paltz enters the contest with a 3-2, 0-1 record… Potsdam is 3-3 and will be playing their conference opener.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (3-2): Down 12-6 with 12:49 to play in the game, the Hawks mounted a tenacious comeback to get within three goals on two occasions, but couldn't overcome late scoring by Buffalo State, falling to the Bengals, 17-13, on Saturday afternoon in Buffalo…Following back-to-back goals from junior midfielder

Kelsey Healy, the Hawks drew within 13-10 with 6:38 to play, but Buffalo State scored consecutive goals in a 43 second span to surge ahead 15-10 with 4:54 to play and nursed its lead to victory… Healy, junior midfielder

Alexa Vitale had two late-game goals – which tied a career high – to keep New Paltz in the mix.
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Tesler leads the team with 17 goals (3.40 per game), which is 2nd best in the SUNYAC… Valdivia has 16 goals (3.20), 5th best and Citro has 15 tallies (3.0), 8th best… Citro's 15 goals and 13 assists (5.50 points per game), is second best in the SUNYAC… Tesler (4.20) and Valdivia (3.80) are 4th and 6th respectively… Citro also ranks third in the conference with 2.60 assists per game… With 39 shots each, both Tesler and Citro are tied for the SUNYAC lead in shots (7.80)… Citro leads the conference in ground balls per game (4.60).
TEAM STATISTICS: Offensively, New Paltz ranks third in the SUNYAC in shots per game (30.40) and shots on goal per game (23.60)… New Paltz ranks fourth in the conference in goals per game, averaging 13.20 and fifth in assists per game with 5.8… Defensively, the Hawks rank first in ground balls per game, averaging 26.40 and sixth in caused turnovers per game (9.80).
SCOUTING THE BEARS (3-3): Potsdam enters today's game following a 13-12 loss to Rochester Institute of Technology at the Spring Fling Tournament in West Palm Beach, Fla on March 27… Potsdam trailed 11-10 with 5:01 to play, but RIT notched two key goals at the 4:22 and 2:14 marks to lead 13-10… Potsdam drew within 13-12 with 52 seconds remaining, but couldn't tally the equalizer… For the Bears, junior attack Bailey Weigel scored a career-high five goals with an assist… Two of Potsdam's three wins have come on the road… The Bears have lost two games by a single goal (Utica, RIT)…
