NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz baseball team gets ready for a busy State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) weekend, as it faces off against the SUNY Fredonia in a three-game set from Friday-Saturday, April 11-12, before taking on The College at Brockport on Sunday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at Siena College. New Paltz faces Fredonia first on Friday in a single game at 3 p.m. before closing out the series with a 12 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
RECORDS: New Paltz enters the weekend with a 10-15 overall record and a SUNYAC record of 2-7… Fredonia is currently 7-9, 2-2 SUNYAC, while Brockport is 11-9, 3-6 SUNYAC.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (10-15, 2-7 SUNYAC): SUNY Oswego topped the Hawks, 7-6, in the rubber match of a three-game set on Sunday, April 6, in New Paltz, N.Y... The Lakers tied the game at 6-all after a ninth-inning, two-run home run off the bat of junior John Rauseo… Later in the ninth, freshman Eric Hamilton drove in the game-winning run with a single to right field… For the Hawks, sophomore
Tyler Bell had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles… Junior
Richard Guido also excelled at the plate for New Paltz, tallying two hits in three at-bats.

Andrew DiNardo is leading the Hawks and is third in the conference in hits with 26 and currently has a batting average of .333… Senior
Steven Morse is leading New Paltz in batting average at .348, which is ranked 14th in the SUNYAC… Junior
Shaun Hansen leads the SUNYAC in doubles with nine, while Guido paces the conference in stolen bases with 14… Senior
Andrew Grann, who recently collected the SUNYAC Pitcher of the Week award on March 31, currently holds a 3-2 record with a 3.56 ERA and 33 strikeouts over 33 1/3 innings pitched… His 33 strikeouts are currently ranked fourth in the conference… Junior
Brian Solomon is right behind him with 22 strikeouts, which is ranked fifth in the conference.
TEAM STATISTICS: The Hawks are batting .277 as a team this season… New Paltz is a constant threat on the base paths, ranking among the top 20 in NCAA Division III and leading the SUNYAC in stolen bases with 58… As a team, the Hawks have 46 doubles and sixth triples, which both rank at second in the conference… The pitching staff's ERA of 4.04 ranks second in the conference, while opposing hitters are batting just .275 against New Paltz this year.
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS (7-9, 3-5 SUNYAC): Fredonia took a 4-3 lead into the seventh inning against Penn State Behrend on Wednesday, but the Blue Devils were unable to hang on in a 5-4 defeat… Five different Fredonia pitchers threw in the nine-inning contest, while Fredonia and Penn State Behrend each had seven hits.
INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS: Senior Sean Larson has only allowed one earned run over 17 innings pitched, which equates to a SUNYAC-leading 0.53 ERA… Larson's opponents are batting just .194 against him, which is second in the conference… Junior Thomas Morris has a 2.37 ERA and 19 strikeouts over 19 innings pitched… Senior Conner Lorenzo is leading Fredonia and is currently 10th in the conference in batting average (.333)... Junior Ricky Mendiola is hitting .346 with four doubles for Fredonia.
TEAM STATISTICS: The Blue Devils are hitting .269 as a team, and their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.40 that ranks fourth in the SUNYAC… Fredonia's sure-handed defense has led to a fielding percentage of .971 that ranks second in the conference.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES (11-8, 3-6 SUNYAC): Brockport engaged in a pitchers' duel against Ithaca College on Wednesday, but Ithaca wound up winning, 3-1, over the Golden Eagles… Sophomore Tyler Clifford had a solid outing on the mound, yielding two runs and striking out two over six innings of work.
INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS: Junior Anthony Barbetto is leading the Golden Eagles and is 13th in the conference in batting average (.333)… Sophomore Wesley Burghardt is batting .347 with five doubles and 15 RBI… Senior Kyle Tracy is second in the conference in on-base percentage (.518), while senior Mike Gianni leads the conference in walks with 16… Senior Justin McCarthy has struck out 20 batters over 28 2/3 innings, which ranks seventh in the conference… Junior Mike McFerran holds a 3-0 record with an ERA of 2.19 and six strikeouts over 12 1/3 innings pitched for the Golden Eagles.
TEAM STATISTICS: Brockport is hitting .291 as a team, which ranks third in the conference… The Golden Eagles have 98 RBI, which is good for second in the SUNYAC, and the pitching staff ranks third in the SUNYAC in ERA (4.30).
