Women's Lacrosse Heads to No. 18 Brockport for Saturday SUNYAC Game

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team played its final non-conference game of the season against Farmingdale State on Tuesday and now the Hawks will concentrate on State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) competition, starting with an 11 a.m. road contest against No. 18 nationally ranked The College at Brockport on Saturday, April 12.
 
RECORDS: New Paltz enters Saturday's game with a 4-4, 1-2 record… Brockport is 7-4, 1-3.
 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (4-4, 1-2):  In a game that featured 12 ties and countless shifts in momentum, Farmingdale State outlasted the Hawks, 22-19, on Tuesday afternoon… New Paltz led 11-9 at intermission and held leads of 16-14 and 17-15 in the second half… Up 18-17 with 9:29 to play, the Rams scored three straight goals and added two insurance goals with under three minutes to play to secure the victory… Senior attack Talia Tesler scored a team-best six goals… Both junior midfielder Lianne Valdivia and junior attack Kelsey Healy each had four goals.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Tesler leads the team with 31 goals, which is tied for third in the SUNYAC… Junior midfielder Carissa Citro ranks second with 21 goals, 12th best in the conference… Citro's 21 goals and 16 assists for 37 points (4.63 points per game), is third best in the SUNYAC… Tesler (4.38) ranks fourth… Citro also ranks fourth in the conference with 2.0 assists per game… Tesler's 66 shots (8.25 per game) leads the SUNYAC… Citro has 50 shots (6.25), which is eighth best… Citro ranks ninth in the conference in ground balls per game (3.50).
 
TEAM STATISTICS: Offensively, New Paltz ranks third in the SUNYAC in scoring (13.13 goals per game) and fifth in points per game (18.38)… With 28.50 shots per game, the Hawks ranks fourth in the SUNYAC and 22.88 of those shots are on goal, third best in the conference... Defensively, the Hawks rank first in ground balls per game, averaging 23.68 and sixth in caused turnovers per game (10.13)… Junior goalie Jackie Ulanoff ranks second in the SUNYAC in saves (9.88).
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES (7-4, 1-3): The Golden Eagles are currently ranked No. 18 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)… On Tuesday, the Golden Eagles lost to No. 2 nationally ranked SUNY Cortland, 14-8… Brockport held a 5-4 lead at intermission, but was outscored 10-3 in the second half… Junior attack Nina Tassone had four goals and an assist in the contest.
 
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Freshman attack Kelly Wall leads the team with 32 goals, which leads the SUNYAC in scoring… Her 3.91 points per game ranks seventh best… Wall has 60 shots on the season (5.45 per game), fourth best in the conference… Senior attack Emily Zartman has 31 goals, fourth best in the conference… Junior attack Liz Algie has 15 assists (1.36 per game), 11th best… Junior goalie Remie Harr 6.91 saves per game, sixth best in the conference... Within the SUNYAC, Brockport has lost back-to-back games to nationally ranked SUNY Oneonta, 11-9, and Buffalo State, 16-14, a team that is receiving votes in the national poll... Brockport defeated SUNY Potsdam 19-11.
  
TEAM STATISTICS:  Brockport ranks second in the SUNYAC in scoring (14.18 goals per game)… The Golden Eagles average 19.45 points per game, second best in the conference and have a 2.7 goals margin, fourth best in the SUNYAC… Effective shooters, the team .457 shooting percentage ranks second in the SUNYAC… Brockport also ranks second in shots (31.0) and shots on goal (24.45).
