Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – For 50 minutes, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team kept a potent SUNY Oneonta team within three goals, but a 7-1 spurt by the Red Dragons over an 11 minute span of the second half pushed the visitors into a 20-11 lead that eventually became a 23-14 victory in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on a sunny, yet chilly Wednesday afternoon at the Turf Field.
In a game delayed from Tuesday due to heavy rain, the Hawks fell behind 6-2 12:50 into the contest. But the Hawks consistently managed to keep the Red Dragons within range, clawing back into a 9-6 halftime deficit. After senior attack
Talia Tesler (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) scored her 26th goal of the season at the 20:20 mark of the second half, the Hawks were within 13-10 and mounting a comeback. Oneonta responded with a flurry of goals – seven of the next eight – to build a 20-11 lead at the 8:18 mark.
The loss drops New Paltz to 4-6, 1-4 SUNYAC. Oneonta improves to 9-5, 4-2. The Hawks will play their final road game of the season on Saturday, facing No. 2 nationally ranked SUNY Cortland at 1 p.m. Oneonta next travels to SUNY Geneseo for a 1p.m. game on Saturday.

Carissa Citro (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) each had four goals for New Paltz. Junior attack
Lianne Valdivia (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) added three goals. Ten different Oneonta players figured into the scoring column, with junior attack Kierra McNally scoring six goals, three in each half.
New Paltz trailed 9-6 at intermission and a Citro goal eight minutes into the second half drew the Hawks within 12-9. But Oneonta, which had 44 shots in the contest, had a response for every New Paltz goal, and skillfully held a three-to-four goal lead with 11 minutes to play. The Red Dragons closed out the contest with four straight tallies in a six-minute span to lead 20-12 with 7:57 to play.
Tesler had two late goals to bring New Paltz within 22-14 with 3:01 to play.

Jackie Ulanoff (Northport, N.Y./Northport) had 12 saves. Oneonta split its goal duties with sophomore starter Amanda Reinchardt making two saves. New Paltz had 26 shots in the contest.
