NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – After suffering a 2-0 defeat at Wheaton (Mass.) College last Saturday, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team hits the road to open up State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) competition at SUNY Cortland (Friday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m.) and SUNY Oswego (Saturday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m.).

RECORDS: The Hawks enter the weekend at 6-3-0 (0-0-0 SUNYAC)... Cortland is 1-5-0 (0-0-0 SUNYAC) and Oswego is 3-3-0 (0-0-0 SUNYAC) entering Friday.
 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS (6-3-0, 0-0-0 SUNYAC): New Paltz looks to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wheaton (Mass.) College, where the Lyons scored two goals in under two minutes… The Hawks fired off 10 shots, led by senior midfielder Sarah Painter's three… Freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Cordero suffered the defeat while saving five shots.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Junior midfielder Kristina Gandolfo leads the team in goals and in shots, firing off 25 and scoring four… Sophomore forward Kaite Mulry leads the team in points with nine, and is second in goals with three… Twelve players have scored at least one goal… Senior midfielder Eleni Anselmi and senior defender Bryce Kristall lead the SUNYAC and are ranked 23rd in NCAA Division III in assists with four…Cordero boasts a .800 save percentage and has recorded three shutouts.

TEAM STATISTICS: The Hawks have outscored opponents, 22-7, and have outshot teams, 214-94… The Hawks also hold a 43-28 advantage in corner kicks.
 
SCOUTING THE RED DRAGONS (1-5-0, 0-0-0 SUNYAC): Cortland comes off a 2-1 defeat on the road against the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute… Senior midfielder Emma Whittle tallied the Red Dragon's lone goal with an assist from junior midfielder Meg Burke…Cortland was outshot, 14-6… Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Axt suffered the defeat but recorded four saves.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Five different players have scored a goal for the Red Dragons… Senior midfielder Kaitlyn Cook and senior midfielder Caitlin Guerra lead the team in shots with five each… Five different players have recorded an assist… Axt holds a .722 save percentage and has recorded one shutout.

TEAM STATISTICS: Cortland has recorded 37 shots and has scored five goals... The Red Dragons also have recorded 12 corner kicks.

LAST MEETING: New Paltz and Cortland played to a scoreless stalemate when the teams last met on Sept. 28, 2013.
 
SCOUTING THE LAKERS (3-3-0, 0-0-0 SUNYAC): Oswego fell to Hamilton College, 4-2, on Tuesday... The Continentals led, 3-0, at the half, but the Lakers responded with two goals, scored by senior forward/midfielderTia Segretto and freshman midfielder Sarah Grupp, early in the second stanza to draw within one... Hamilton put the game on ice in the 88th minute with an insurance goal... Junior goalkeeper Alyssa Glasshagel made seven saves in the defeat.

STATISTICAL LEADERS: Segretto leads the team in shots and in goals, with 25 shots and three goals... Freshman midfielder Emma Geyer also has three goals, followed by six different players who all have tallied a goal... Segretto also leads the team in assists with three... Glasshagel leads the goalkeepers with four games started and a .818 save percentage.

TEAM STATISTICS: The Lakers have outscored opponents, 12-9, and have outshot them, 118-63... Oswego also has an advantage in corner kicks, 34-7, with 12 coming in the first half and 22 in the second.

LAST MEETING: Oswego topped New Paltz, 1-0, when the two teams last met in their SUNYAC opener on Sept. 27, 2013.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Hawks host conference opponents SUNY Geneseo and The College at Brockport from Friday-Saturday, Oct. 3-4... The Red Dragons compete at SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Potsdam from Oct. 3-4, while the Lakers also play the Cardinals and Bears next weekend.
