NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – After winning the 2014 Scarlet Raider Soccer Classic over the weekend, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team looks to remain undefeated by hosting Purchase College on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 4 p.m. at Alumni Field.
RECORDS: The Hawks are 4-0 overall while the Panthers bring an 0-1 mark into Tuesday's match... The 4-0 start for New Paltz is the best in program history.SCOUTING THE HAWKS (2-0): New Paltz defeated Brooklyn College, 1-0, and Rutgers University-Newark, 2-1, over the weekend to win the Scarlet Raider Classic for the second time in four years, with the last title coming in 2011... Sophomore defender Sloane Lipshie tallied the game's lone goal against the Bulldogs... Sophomore midfielder Skye Kaler and sophomore midfielder Kaite Mulry both scored for the Hawks against host Rutgers-Newark on Sunday... Kaler, Lipshie, senior midfielder Eleni Anselmi and sophomore midfieler Hannah Moran were all named to the All-Tournament team, with Kaler receiving Most Valuable Player honors.
STATISTICAL LEADERS: Junior midfielder Kristina Gandolfo leads the team with three goals and six points... Junior forward Chelsea Weir has tallied two goals, both game winners... Five different players have one goal... Six players have fired off at least 10 shots, with Anselmi and freshman forward Julia Friedman leading the way with 13 each... Anselmi leads the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) with three assists... Freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Cordero is 4-0 with two-and-a-half shutouts... Cordero has a 0.29 goals-against average and a .857 save percentage... Cordero leads the SUNYAC in GAA and shutouts.TEAM STATISTICS: The Hawks have outscored opponents, 10-1, this season and are averaging better than 30 shots per match... SCOUTING THE PANTHERS (0-1): Purchase dropped a 3-0 decision at the College of Staten Island on Saturday in its season opener... The Panthers ripped off 15 shots, including nine on goal, but could not find the back of the net... Sophomore forward Amanda Green led the way with six shots... Junior forward Marykate McGee recorded three shots... Sophomore Briana Leon registered five saves at goalkeeper.
