Day 1 Results

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team finished day one of the MIT Winter Invitational fifth out of 10 teams with 47 points on Friday evening at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool.
 
Friday's events—the 800 freestyle relay and the 1,650 freestyle—were swum as timed-final events.
 
Action at the meet continues tomorrow, with the preliminary heats beginning at 10:30 a.m. and finals commencing at 6 p.m.
 
Freshmen Katie Donlevy (Bayside, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy) and Jaimie Kaefer (North Bellmore, N.Y./W.C. Mepham) and seniors Casey O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) and Cassidy Griger (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central) teamed up to chart a 10th-place standard of 7:52.76 in the 800 freestyle relay to open up the meet.
 
Junior Ann Fici (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) was the Hawks' top performer in the 1,650 freestyle, covering the 66-lap event in 18:55.59.
