NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz baseball team is prepared for its annual spring break trip and is set to play 12 games in Port Charlotte, Fla. from March 15-22.
 

21137SCOUTING NEW PALTZ: The Hawks fell 7-1 in their season opener at No. 22 Randolph-Macon on Thursday... Sophomore designated hitter Robert Fitzpatrick went 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the seventh inning... Sophomore left hander Brett Wisner earned his first career start and threw four innings... Sophomore righty Kevin Frank fanned two batters in one inning of relief... Sophomore left fielder Anthony Diana, senior third baseman Mike Sparacino and Fitzpatrick all tallied singles with two outs in the second inning but unfortunately were unable to score... Senior first baseman Shaun Hansen scored the team's lone run.

2955SCOUTING HEIDELBERG: Heidelberg is receiving votes in the D3baseball.com Top 25 Poll... The Student Princes have started the year off 5-0, with wins over Montclair State, Wabash, Hampden-Sydney and St. John Fisher... The Student Princes finished 2014 with a 31-13 record, going 13-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC)… Heidelberg reached the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional as an at-large bid… The Student Princes lost only three games in April but finished the year on a six-game losing skid… Heidelberg rattled off a 15-game winning streak from March 3-22 last year…  Heidelberg is led by first-year head coach Chad Fitzgerald… Reigning OAC Player of the Year junior outfielder Derek Hug returns after hitting .400 in 2014 with 48 RBI… Hug earned Third Team All-American honors… Junior outfielder T.J. Harkness hit .349… Eric Monroe and Adam Hershberger both earned Second Team All-OAC accolades… Sophomore pitcher Derek Hendrixson earned First Team All-Mideast Region honors last year after earning six saves and 57 strikeouts.

20242SCOUTING WOOSTER: The Fighting Scots finished 29-15 last year, going 16-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC)… Wooster fell to DePauw in the NCAC Championship… Senior third baseman Frank Vance earned Second Team All-Mideast Region in 2014, hitting .417… Wooster is led by 34-year head coach Tim Pettorini, who has amassed over 1,000 career victories… The Fighting Scots won 12 of 13 games from March 12-April 1… Designated hitter Brendan Taylor earned NCAC Honorable Mention after hitting .378… As a team, Wooster hit .340 with an on-base percentage of .424.

10925SCOUTING UMASS-BOSTON: The Beacons went 17-24 last season, with a 7-7 mark in Little East Conference (LEC) action… UMass-Boston is led by 11th year head coach Brendan Eygabroat… The Beacons hit .357 last year, led by then-freshman Daniel Mantoni's .317 average… Mantoni scored 27 runs, cracked a team-high 10 doubles and drove in 24 RBI… Senior left-handed pitcher Kyle Szatrowski led the team with four wins and one complete game… The Beacons were predicted to finish fourth in the LEC Preseason Poll… Both Mantoni and Szatrowski earned LEC All-Conference honors.

Lancaster Bible is led by fourth-year head coach T.J. Horn.

20241SCOUTING DENISON: The Big Red posted a 21-21 record last year, going 14-5 in the NCAC… Denison put together several three-game winning streaks… Then-junior shortstop Ryan Mulligan was named to the All-Mideast Region Second Team as a utility player… Mulligan hit .318 and drove in a team-high 32 RBI… As a pitcher, Mulligan did not allow a run in 11 innings and earned four saves… The Big Red won its second-straight NCAC West Division title… Denison is led by third-year head coach Mike Deegan, who was named the 2014 NCAC Coach of the Year… Junior centerfielder Georgie Montes was named Second Team All-NCAC and junior sCharlie Apfelbach and Kyle Colgain earned Honorable Mention status.

9268SCOUTING SALEM STATE: The Vikings put together a 29-16 campaign in 2014, going 11-3 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC)… Salem State fell to Worcester State in the MSCAC Championship… The Vikings enjoyed a 12-game winning streak from March 29 to April 10 last year… Salem State is led by third-year head coach Mike Ward… Junior second baseman Ricard Fecteau was named a 2015 Preseason All-American… Fecteau earned First Team All-New England Region honors last year after hitting .360 with 47 runs and 28 RBI… Fecteau was named the MASCAC Player of the Year.

19872SCOUTING CORTLAND: Cortland is ranked No. 3 in the D3baseball.com Top 25 Poll… The Red Dragons went 36-10 last year, 15-3 SUNYAC and advanced to the Division III College World Series, falling to Emory and eventual national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater… Cortland is led by 16th-year head coach Joe Brown, who has over 550 career victories… Brown was named the ABCA Regional Coach of the Year… The Red Dragons have made 12 World Series appearances since 1995 and have qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the last 22 years… Then-junior outfielders Donny Castaldo and Vinny Bomasuto along with junior pitcher Brandon McClain earned First Team All-SUNYAC status in 2014… Sophomore outfield Conrad Ziemendorf and sophomore pitcher Brandon Serio earned Second Team and At-Large selections.
