NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz baseball team is set to host Union College (N.Y.) on Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. for a non-conference tilt at Cantine Park in Saugerties, N.Y.
 
RECORDS: New Paltz is 4-15 overall… Union is 11-8 overall and 4-3 in non-conference games.
 

21137SCOUTING THE HAWKS (4-15): New Paltz split their doubleheader matchup against Fredonia on Sunday…In the first game, the Hawks dropped a close contest, 6-5, after leading 5-2 into the last inning of play… Senior right-hander Shaun Hansen started for the Hawks and pitched well, going five innings while allowing two earned runs and striking out five…Leadoff hitter, freshman Jake Williams, finished 2-for-3 with a run while junior shortstop Andrew DiNardo produced a strong offensive game with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBI and two runs scored… Junior catcher Tyler Bell, senior third baseman Mike Sparacino, sophomore Anthony Diana and freshman Anthony Pantano each added a hit as well…In the series finale, the Hawks were commanding on the offensive end tallying 12 runs on 11 hits to hang onto the win 12-10…Williams continued his impressive hitting, going 3-for-5 and scoring two runs and driving in another… DiNardo also furthered his offensive hot streak adding two more hits and three RBI… Senior lefty Brian Solomon earned the win as he threw eight frames and struck out six… Senior Tyler Mitts (Nanuet, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep) threw the final frame.

2934SCOUTING THE DUTCHMEN (11-8): The Union College baseball team defeated Clarkson 8-1 on Sunday to earn a split on the day… Freshman Andy Labeck earned his second win of the season while classmate Zack Twitchell collected four hits to lead the Dutchmen… Junior Eric Egan ran his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in each contest on Sunday… Labeck pitched 6 2/3 spotless innings to move to 2-2 on the year in game two… Labeck allowed just two Clarkson batters to reach third base while striking out six on the day… Labeck lowered his ERA to a Liberty League leading 1.09 with his performance… Jamie Faber, Kent Curran, Jake Fishman and Jeffery Grasso Jr. all drove in a run in the five-run first inning.
