NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz baseball team is set to host SUNY Oneonta on Wednesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. for a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest at Cantine Park in Saugerties, N.Y.
 
RECORDS: New Paltz is 4-15 overall, 1-8 in SUNYAC action and hosts Union tonight in non-conference action… The Red Dragons are 4-14 overall, 1-6 in SUNYAC and play at SUNY Plattsburgh in a doubleheader today at 1 p.m.
 

21137SCOUTING THE HAWKS (4-15, 1-8): The Hawks battle non-conference foe Union College (N.Y.) on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.…. New Paltz split their doubleheader matchup against Fredonia on Sunday… In the first game, the Hawks dropped a close contest, 6-5, after leading 5-2 into the last inning of play… Senior right-hander Shaun Hansen started for the Hawks and pitched well, going five innings while allowing two earned runs and striking out five… Leadoff hitter, freshman Jake Williams, finished 2-for-3 with a run while junior shortstop Andrew DiNardo produced a strong offensive game with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBI and two runs scored… Junior catcher Tyler Bell, senior third baseman Mike Sparacino, sophomore Anthony Diana and freshman Anthony Pantano each added a hit as well… In the series finale, the Hawks were commanding on the offensive end tallying 12 runs on 11 hits to hang onto the win 12-10… Williams continued his impressive hitting weekend, going 3-for-5 and scoring two runs and driving in another… DiNardo also furthered his offensive hot streak adding two more hits and three RBI… Senior lefty Brian Solomon earned the win as he threw eight frames and struck out six… This was Solomon's first win since March 30, 2013… Senior Tyler Mitts threw the final frame against Fredonia to secure the league win.

2927SCOUTING THE RED DRAGONS (4-14, 1-6): Oneonta dropped two of three games at SUNY Oswego over the weekend… The Red Dragons won the series finale, 6-2… Sophomore Billy Riedel cracked a three-run homer in the top of the sixth to give Oneonta its first SUNYAC win of 2015… Freshman Nicholas Ponesse threw five innings in his start, allowing five hits and two earned runs to pick up his third victory of the spring… Freshman R.J. Lyman pitched the final four frames to earn his first collegiate save… Oneonta trailed 2-1 entering the sixth before Riedel's blast… The Red Dragons cracked 10 hits in the game three win… Oneonta has also defeated SUNY Canton, Medaille and Curry College this season… The win on Sunday over Oswego snapped a 12-game losing skid.
