NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz softball will compete in two conference doubleheaders this weekend against SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Plattsburgh from April 10-11 in Saugerties N.Y. at Cantine Field.
 
RECORDS: New Paltz enters the weekend with an 8-7 overall record and a 1-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) record... Potsdam is 3-12 overall, 0-4 in SUNYAC… Plattsburgh is 6-14 overall and 1-5 in conference. 
 

21137SCOUTING THE HAWKS (8-7, 1-1): The Hawks split with the Oneonta Red Dragons on Monday, dropping the first game 6-1, but taking the second 4-2... In game one, freshman right fielder Julia Perhacs blasted a solo home run to left field to put the Hawks on the board…Oneonta scored all six of their runs in the third inning with two outs…The Hawks were unable to score after that…In game two, junior pitcher Katie Rutcofsky threw a total of 151 pitches and went 2-for-3 at the plate… Rutcofsky drove in two runs with a one-out single to left field in the eighth to give the Hawks a 4-2 lead…Freshman first basemen Lauren Cappello nailed a solo homerun in the first inning to put New Paltz on the board.
 
INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS: Junior Fallon Spriggs leads the SUNYAC in home runs (3)… Senior Erika Traina leads the SUNYAC in saves (2)… Freshman Julia Perhacs has the third highest batting average in the SUNYAC (.465), and has a team high 14 runs scored and 20 hits… Senior Shayna Burgess leads the team with six stolen bases.
 
TEAM STATISTICS: New Paltz leads the SUNYAC in RBI (93) and home runs (8)…The Hawks have the second highest batting average in the SUNYAC (.304) and have the second highest number of hits (126)… New Paltz has scored a total of 100 runs and has tallied a .392 on-base percentage, .304 batting average and .442 slugging percentage.
 

2941SCOUTING THE BEARS (3-12, 0-4):  The Bears currently sit at the bottom of the SUNYAC with zero conference wins… The Bears will enter the weekend coming off a non-conference win against Clarkson University 10-4 this past Wednesday… Junior pitcher Carina Chirinko had three RBI and junior catcher Katie Marsman added two… Freshman pitcher Megan Dougherty earned her first collegiate win allowing only one run and striking out four. 
 
INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS:  Jordan Ott leads the SUNYAC with two triples and fronts the Bears in batting average (.364) and stolen bases (4)… Katie Marsman is tied for third in the conference for doubles (6) and sits seventh for slugging percentage (.583)… Jamie Hoskins is third for conference ERA (6.53).
 
TEAM STATISTICS:  Potsdam is second in the SUNYAC in ERA (5.80)… The team has an overall batting average of .224, on-base percentage of .257, 35 RBI and 12 stolen bases. 

LAST MEETING: The Hawks fell twice at Potsdam when these two teams last played on April 19, 2014.
 

2942SCOUTING THE CARDINALS (6-14, 1-5): Plattsburgh is ninth in the conference right above Potsdam with one SUNYAC win… The Cardinals enter the weekend coming off two losses to Fredonia from a doubleheader this past week… In the first game, the team struggled at the plate only tallying five hits… Fredonia jumped out to a 5-0 lead in three innings… Dominique Zummo and Brittany Marshall hit back-to-back homers in the fifth inning, but it was not enough to catch the Blue Devils… The Cardinals fell short losing 7-3… The Cardinals gained a lead to start the second game after Kelsey Gage hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning… Fredonia responded with five unearned runs, but the Cardinals regained the lead in the fifth, tallying three runs for a score of 7-6… The Blue Devils scored three times in the top of the seventh, which clinched an 8-6 win for Fredonia… Kristine Fisher pitched four innings for Plattsburgh and struck out seven with no earned runs.
 
INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS: Marshall is tied for first in the SUNYAC for hits (24) and second for runs (17)… Marshall also leads the Cardinals in batting average (.338), at bats, (71), slugging percentage (.549), and stolen bases (11)…. Morgan Anderson leads the Cardinals in ERA (1.97).
 
TEAM STATISTICS:  The Cardinals are second in the SUNYAC for stolen bases (23)… Plattsburgh is fourth in home runs (5)… The team has an overall batting average of .219, a .297 slugging percentage, 52 RBI, and a .228 on-base percentage.
 
LAST MEETING: The Hawks swept the Cardinals when these two teams last met on April 18, 2014.
 

WHAT'S NEXT:  New Paltz is scheduled to host Mount Saint Mary College on April 15 at 3 p.m.… Potsdam will face Oneonta on Saturday, April 11… Plattsburgh will also travel to Oneonta on Sunday, April 12 for a conference doubleheader.
