Skye Kaler (Charleton, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) posted two goals to help project the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team in a comeback 4-1 win over Purchase College in its 2015 season opener.
New Paltz rises to a 1-0 overall record and will open its home slate with the Michelle Vargas-Robin Tournament Friday-Sunday, Sept. 4-6, competing against Medgar Evers University (Sept. 4 at 5 p.m.) and Stockton University (Sept. 6 at 12 p.m.). Purchase falls to 0-1 overall and competes against Lehman College on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m.
The game remained scoreless until the 54th minute, when Purchase's freshman midfielder Breann McKeon scored off a corner kick to bump the Panthers ahead 1-0.
Purchase maintained its lead until Kaler scored the equalizer in the 66th minute on a penalty kick. Minutes later, the Hawks jumped ahead to a 2-1 lead when sophomore defender
