ONEONTA, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team won eight events in a 161.5-100.5 Catskill Cup victory over SUNY Oneonta on Saturday afternoon at the G. Hal Chase Gymnasium Pool.
 
With women's swimming's win in conjunction with New Paltz men's swimming's victory over Oneonta, New Paltz has now tied Oneonta in the Catskill Cup standings at 14-all.
 
Senior Cassidy Griger (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central), sophomore Megan Joseph (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) and freshman Katie Donlevy (Bayside, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy) each won two individual events for the Hawks. Griger placed first in the 200 freestyle (1:58.93) and the 500 freestyle (5:19.01), Joseph won the 100 breaststroke (1:12.27) and the 200 breaststroke (2:36.83) and Donlevy captured the 50 freestyle (25.89) and 100 freestyle (56.63).
 
New Paltz rises to 5-1 overall with the win and hosts SUNY Geneseo in its final tune-up before the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. Oneonta drops to 1-4 with the loss and next hosts SUNY Cortland on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m.
 
New Paltz also placed first in both relays. The 400 medley relay quartet of freshman Kaleigh O'Halloran (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville), Donlevy, sophomore Molly McCulloch (Rome, N.Y./Holland Patent) and Griger charted a first-place time of 4:11.40, while the 400 freestyle relay team of O'Halloran, freshman Jaimie Kaefer (North Bellmore, N.Y./W.C. Mepham), junior Aimee Del Favero (Auburn, N.Y./Home School) and McCulloch won with a time of 3:48.63.
 
Second-place finishes came from junior Ann Fici (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) in the 1,000 freestyle (11:39.99), O'Halloran in the 100 backstroke (1:04.35) and the 100 freestyle (57.06), senior Casey O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.23) and the 200 breaststroke (2:40.72), senior Maggie Heaton (New Milford, Conn./New Milford) in the 100 butterfly (1:01.35) and the 200 butterfly (2:16.94), McCulloch in the 50 freestyle (25.99), senior Ella Graffin (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) in the 200 backstroke (2:18.87) and Donlevy in the 200 individual medley (2:17.88).
