PETERSBURG, Fla. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team rang in the New Year on Sunday morning, placing fourth out of six teams with 64 points at the St. Pete's Classic in St. Petersburg, Fla., as a part of its annual Florida training trip. The meet's format consisted of nine relays.
DePauw University topped the field with 102 points, while NCAA Division I South Dakota State University and the College of Wooster placed second and third with 96 and 74 points, respectively. New Paltz (fourth, 64), the Illinois Institute of Technology (fifth, 30) and the Catholic University of America (sixth, 22) rounded out the remainder of the field.
New Paltz returns to dual-meet action on Friday, Jan. 15, when it visits SUNY Cortland for a 4 p.m. meet.

Kim Kallansrude (Muttontown, N.Y./Jericho) took second with a time of 3:11.44. The 800 freestyle relay contingent of senior
Cassidy Griger (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central), freshmen
Katie Donlevy (Bayside, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy) and
Jaimie Kaefer (North Bellmore, N.Y./W.C. Mepham) and sophomore
Megan Joseph (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge) and the 500 freestyle relay team of sophomore
Molly McCulloch (Rome, N.Y./Holland Patent), Griger, Donlevy and junior
Aimee Del Favero (Auburn, N.Y./Home School) each placed third, clocking times of 8:22.65 and 5:04.97, respectively.
