Box Score KINGSTON, N.Y. – Seven unanswered goals in the second half helped the State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team defeat Bard College, 15-9, in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at Dietz Stadium.
New Paltz outshot Bard by a 30-25 margin on the contest, and the Hawks went 17-for-22 on clear attempts. Bard did, however, hold a 13-12 advantage in draw controls.
New Paltz rises to 2-2 overall with the win and next hosts Hartwick College on Wednesday, March 18, at 4:30 p.m. at the North Turf Field. Bard falls to 0-2 with the loss and next visits Notre Dame of Maryland University on Tuesday, March 22, at 1 p.m.
Five different Hawks combined to score the game's first five goals, as freshman midfielder

Taylor Russell (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) each found the back of the net to hand New Paltz a 5-0 lead midway through the first stanza. The Raptors scored three goals before halftime, including one by freshman midfielder Nicole Ellin with one second left, to pull within two at the intermission.
After each team scored in the first 3:13 of the second half, New Paltz went on a 7-0 surge, and a goal by Stackpole gave the Hawks a 13-4 lead with just 6:15 to go in regulation. Bard rallied late by scoring five goals in the final five minutes, but it was unable to threaten New Paltz's sizable lead, as the Hawks prevailed, 15-9.

Nicole Gottschalk (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) keyed the New Paltz offense with three goals and one assist, while Morris and sophomore attacker
Kelsey Aeberli (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) registered two goals and two assists apiece. Stackpole and Russell netted two goals each, while Jones, Purtell, sophomore attacker
Allie Imperati (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) and freshman attacker
Danielle Dulligan (Bayside, N.Y./Saint Francis Preparatory) rounded out the Hawks' scorers. Purtell controlled four draws, while Jones caused two turnovers. Junior goalkeeper
Colleen Roemer (Pound Ridge, N.Y./Fox Lane) wound up scooping up eight ground balls.
For Bard, freshman midfielder Casey Witte and Ellin led the way with three goals each, with Witte adding five draw controls and five ground balls.
Roemer made eight saves in the win for the Hawks, while her counterpart, sophomore goalkeeper Kaylynn Tran, turned aside 11 shots in the loss for Bard.
