BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team fell to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foe the No. 11 College at Brockport, 23-2, on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles held the advantage in shots (39-10), ground balls (20-11), draw controls (21-5), and free positions (6-2). New Paltz did, however, carry the ball well in transition, going 11-for-15 in clear attempts.
The Hawks fall to 3-11, 0-6 SUNYAC and return home to host SUNYAC and Catskill Cup rival SUNY Oneonta on Tuesday, April 26 at 4 p.m. The Golden Eagles improve to 12-1, 5-1 SUNYAC and move on to host SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday, April 26 at 4 p.m.
Brockport netted seven goals within eight minutes to take command of the lead. New Paltz would land on the scoreboard shortly afterwards as junior midfielder
Alexa Criollo (Queens, N.Y./Forest Hills) at the 18:41 mark but Brockport responded with back-to-back goals by junior attacker Kelly Wall, extending its lead to 9-1.

Kelsey Aeberli (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick) fed the ball to junior midfielder
Nicole Gottschalk (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) at the 16:02 mark to make it a 9-2 game but the Golden Eagles scored five unanswered goals to grab a 14-2 lead at halftime.
Coming out of the break, Brockport dominated the second half as the Golden Eagles scored nine goals to take home the final 23-2 win.
Criollo and Gottschalk paced the team with one goal apiece, with Criollo scooping up two ground balls. Aeberli recorded one assist and had two draw controls while junior attacker
Melissa Wagner (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) also had one assist.
For Brockport, Wall keyed the offense with five goals while senior attacker Keeley Rice score four and tallied four assists. Senior defender Courtney Szcezesniak scooped up three ground balls while senior attacker Ciara McKeon recorded 13 draw controls.
Junior goalie
Colleen Roemer (Pound Ridge, N.Y./Fox Lane) made six saves in the loss for New Paltz, while sophomore goalies Sara Shaddock and Paige Lammes each made three stops in goal for the Golden Eagles.
