BUFFALO – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-4 decision to Buffalo State in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game on Friday afternoon at Coyer Field.
Buffalo State finished with a 28-13 margin in shots, a 12-8 margin in draw controls and a 23-21 edge in ground balls.
New Paltz drops to 3-7 overall (0-2 SUNYAC) with the loss and next hosts SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday, April 12, at 4 p.m. Buffalo State rises to 4-7 overall (1-2 SUNYAC) with the victory and next visits The College at Brockport on Tuesday, April 12, at 4 p.m.
The Bengals hopped out to a 4-0 lead midway through the contest before the Hawks received back-to-back goals from junior attacker
Nicole Stackpole (North Bellmore, N.Y./W.C. Mepham) and sophomore attacker
Caitlyn Morris (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) to draw within two. The Bengals netted two more scores before Morris responded with her second goal of the game with just 6:02 before halftime. Buffalo State scored four unanswered goals to enter halftime with a 10-3 advantage.

Alexa Criollo (Queens, N.Y./Forest Hills) caused two turnovers and controlled four draws.
For Buffalo State, sophomore attacker Alanna Herne led the way with eight points (five goals and three assists), while sophomore midfielder Christina Krowel registered six points (three goals and three assists). Senior attacker Sarah Lorusso stuffed the stat sheet with five caused turnovers, four ground balls, three draw controls, three goals and one assist.

Colleen Roemer (Pound Ridge, N.Y./Fox Lane) made eight stops in the loss for the Hawks, while two Bengal goalkeepers combined for five saves in the win.
