CORTLAND, N.Y. – The women's soccer team at the State University of New York at New Paltz experienced a 2-0 defeat at SUNY Cortland on Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action.
The Hawks (1-8-2, 0-2-0 SUNYAC) fired four shots, two coming off the boot of senior midfielder
Sloane Lipshie (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue). Junior midfielder Gabriella Cabello (Hauppauge, NY/Smithtown West) and junior back
Monica Rouse (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) also provided a shot each for New Paltz.
Freshman keeper
Angela Ratka (Farmington, NY/Victor) made 10 stops on the day for the Hawks as she faced a total of 20 shots from the Red Dragons (6-2-0, 2-0-0 SUNYAC). This is the third-straight match Ratka has tallied double-digit saves (10 vs. Union on 9/14 & 11 vs. RPI on 9/16).
Cortland scored in just the 10
th minute of play and followed that with another score in the 28
th minute.
New Paltz will look to bounce back next Friday, Sept. 30 at 3 p.m., playing host to Brockport at the South Turf Field.
