ONEONTA, N.Y. – Senior forward
Erin Landy (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) enjoyed a two-goal performance on Wednesday afternoon as the State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey team defeated host SUNY Oneonta 2-0 in midweek SUNYAC action.
This is the fifth victory in last six games for New Paltz (7-2, 4-0 SUNYAC) against Oneonta (2-7, 1-2 SUNYAC) as the Hawks came away with two points in the Catskill Cup rivalry contest.
Landy scored her first goal in the 19
th minute, taking a feed from junior forward
Justine O'Reilly (West Sayville, NY/Sayville) and dribbled down the middle of the lane, shooting past the Oneonta keeper to give the Hawks a 1-0 edge.
The contest remained in favor of New Paltz into the second half of competition when Landy found the back of the cage for the second time, this score occurring in the 52
nd minute, to hand the Hawks a 2-0 cushion.
New Paltz dominated the contest, firing off 30 shots (16 on goal) to the Red Dragons' six. Senior forward
Kayla McKeveny (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East) led all players with nine shots while Landy tallied six shots.

Hayley Kim (West Hurley, NY/Onteora) ripped five shots apiece to lead the New Paltz attacking barrage.
Defensively, junior keeper
Megan Gangewere (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area) faced just six shots while pushing aside three in her 70 minutes of action. For the game, New Paltz held the edge in penalty corners 15-5.
The Hawks will look to keep the momentum going on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m., hosting No. 9 Rochester at North Turf Field.
