ONEONTA, N.Y. – Senior
Alexa Criollo (Queens, N.Y./Forest Hills) tallied two second-half goals for the women's lacrosse team at the State University of New York at New Paltz on Wednesday but the Hawks fell to host SUNY Oneonta 17-3 in SUNYAC action as well as a Catskill Cup game.
With the defeat, New Paltz falls to 4-4, 0-2 SUNYAC and will look to recover on Saturday, April 8 at 1 p.m., playing host to SUNY Geneseo. The Red Dragons, meanwhile, improve to 5-3, 2-0 SUNYAC.
With the loss, the Hawks still own a slim, 20-18 lead in the Catskill Cup standings with baseball and softball yet to square off this season.
Criollo scored twice on two shots on goal while chipping in two draw controls and one ground ball. Junior
Kayla Massena (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) provided the other goal for the Hawks.
Oneonta opened up the game scoring the first 10 goals of the contest before Massena stopped the bleeding with a score at 4:15 in the first half as the Hawks trailed 12-1 at halftime.
