Cortland, NY – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) released its weekly awards Monday and State University of New York at New Paltz freshman
Kirsten Giovanniello earned her first collegiate PrestoSports/SUNYAC Swimmer of the Week recognition after her standout performance against Adelphi University Saturday.
Giovanniello claimed her first collegiate victory in the women's 200-yard freestyle against the Panthers, coming in with a time of 2 minutes, 3.29 seconds. She also earned first in the 200-yard butterfly, touching in 2:14.91 to maintain top-five times in three separate events in the SUNYAC. Additionally, the Bellmore, NY native also was a part of Hawks' winning 400-yard medley relay team, which earned a time of 4:10.66, nearly five seconds faster than the second-place finishers did.
SUNY New Paltz is back in the pool Sept. 22 when it hosts Hamilton College in Elting Pool for a 6 p.m. dual meet.
