Week of Dec. 2 - Dec. 16
54: The number of total turnovers forced by women's basketball in two weekend wins against Potsdam Dec. 6 and Plattsburgh Dec. 7. The Bears turned the ball over 31 times, including 11 from Dyamon Hunter, and took advantage with 24 points off those turnovers. The following day the Hawks "only" forced 23 turnovers, but scored 30 points off of them. Additionally, SUNY New Paltz was 32-for-62 (51.6%) from the field, compared to 24-for-78 (30.8%) performance against Potsdam. Heading into their holiday tournament in Nashville, Tennessee Dec. 29 and Dec. 30, the Hawks are 5-1 and tied for first in SUNYAC with a 2-0 record.
21: The number of points scored by women's basketball senior forward
Maddie Van Pelt, a new career-high, in the 81-41 blowout win against Plattsburgh Dec. 6. That figure led the team ahead of senior guard
Marion Dietz (16) and freshman guard
Olivia Badura (14). She was efficient from the field as well, shooting 9-of-12 (75%, 1-3 from 3PT territory) from the field. She also contributed four rebounds (three offensive), an assist, two steals, and a block.
46: The number of points men's basketball freshman guard
RJ Meyers-Turner scored in a pair of losses over against Potsdam Dec. 6 (83-70) and Plattsburgh Dec. 7 (81-60). Coming off the bench against the Bears, he scored 27 points, shooting 58.3% (7-of-12) from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc. He ties senior
Tristan Wissemann for the most points in a game this season (Wissemann scored 27 last month against Farmingdale State). Getting the start against the Cardinals, he scored 19 points on 46.1 percent shooting from the field. Meyers-Turner leads the team in multiple categories this season, including points (102), field-goal percentage (42.7%), and 3-point percentage (51.4%); the latter figure puts him in third among all SUNYAC players.
27: The number of rebounds recorded by senior forwards
Scott Reisert and Tristian Wissemann in a bounceback 67-61 win against St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) for men's basketball. Reisert had 13 rebounds, 10 of them on the defensive end, while Wissemann had 14 rebounds (seven offensive rebounds), a game-high. They also led the team in points with 14 and 13, respectively. The team secured 51 rebounds on the night and 52.9 percent of that total came from Reisert and Wissemann.
3: The number of Hawks field hockey players that were named to 2019 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-North Atlantic Region team. Sophomore midfielder
Jessica Ascencao was selected for her second consecutive All-Region First-Team honor after earning 2019 All-SUNYAC First-Team and the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team. Junior forward
