NEW PALTZ, NY – The State University of New York New Paltz Athletics is reminding eligible voters that the deadline to cast their ballots for the Hawks Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026-27 is quickly approaching, with voting set to close Thursday, Oct. 1. 

The Hawks Athletics Hall of Fame recognizes and honors individuals whose accomplishments and contributions to SUNY New Paltz Athletics exemplify the department's standards of success, leadership and citizenship. 

No more than five inductees may be selected in a given class. Candidates for induction include former SUNY New Paltz student-athletes as well as coaches, administrators, trainers and individuals who have provided meritorious service to Hawks Athletics. 

Former student athletes must have attended SUNY New Paltz full-time for at least two years, participated in at least one varsity sport for a minimum of two years, and have been away from the University for at least five years. Consideration is given to athletic accomplishments, honors, leadership, postseason recognition, championships, and record-setting performances. 

Former coaches, administrators and trainers must have served SUNY New Paltz Athletics for at least five years and have been away from the College for at least two years, while demonstrating character, leadership and a commitment to the development of Hawks student-athletes. 

The Hall of Fame selection committee is responsible for the nomination and selection process as well as establishing policies for the SUNY New Paltz Athletics Hall of Fame. 

Voting for the Class of 2026-27 closes Thursday, Oct. 1.
