SUNY New Paltz Swimming Finishes Day 2 of SUNYAC Championships with Four Third-Place Finishes

(Day 2 Results) Buffalo, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz swimming team competed in Day 2 of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships at Burt Flickinger Center pool Thursday.

The Hawks earned four third-place finishes on the women's side on the day, which helped them earn a third-place team standing going into Day 3 Friday. 

Seniors Katie Donlevy, Nicole Lee and juniors Sarah Crespo and Chelsea Angulas clocked in at 1 minute, 37.14 seconds in the 200-yard free style relay to earn a third-place standing, while senior Jaimie Kaefer and Lee later earned two more third-place finishes in their individual events. Kaefer touched the wall at 2:09.34 in the 200-yard individual medley, while Lee clocked in at 24:04 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle. 
Lee, Donlevy, Angulas and sophomore Lindsay Kranitz, added another bronze winning performance for SUNY New Paltz after recording a time of 3:56.76 in the 400-yard medley relay, placing just behind SUNY Geneseo (3:53.17) and SUNY Cortland (3:55.18).
 
Senior Barrett Celecki highlighted the men's side for the Hawks, placing third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:41.20. Sophomores Nolan West, Graham Cono and freshmen Luke Gamboli and Jared Finn helped SUNY New Paltz to a fifth place standing in the 400 individual medley relay (3:35.59), while Finn, West, freshman Mitchell Chappell and senior Joseph Galante earned seventh in the men's 200 freestyle relay (1:37.14).
 
After two days of events, the Hawks (114) sit seventh on the men's side in the standings in front of Buffalo State and swimmingSUNY Potsdam with SUNY Geneseo leading the way with 341 points.
 
SUNY New Paltz earned 148 points so far on the women's side, sitting behind SUNY Cortland (176) and the Knights (434).
