New Paltz, NY --- Tristan Wissemann, a junior on the State University of New York at New Paltz men's basketball team, played a vital role in the Hawks success this season. On Thursday, Wisseman was named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Third-Team after a standout junior year.
The 2018-2019 season was a big one for Wissemann, leading the team with an accumulative 373 points, while averaging 14.9 points per game. In addition, Wissemann led the team in field goals (135), 3-point field goals (50), and time played (741 min). Clearly, Wissemann's breakout season heavily contributed to the recent run by the Hawks, putting them in contention for a playoff spot.
Some notable games in which Wissemann took charge on the court included Dec. 30 against College of New Rochelle, when he scored an astonishing 30 points, accompanied by seven rebounds. Another game to mention was Feb. 9 against Fredonia, when Wissemann put up 24 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. On countless occasions, Wisseman stepped up for the Hawks squad in an extremely clutch fashion.
"I'm thankful that my teammates and coaches always put me in a position to succeed," explained Wissemann. "I wouldn't have received this without them."
SUNY New Paltz ended the season with the most wins since 1999, finishing with a strong record of 14 wins and 11 losses.
