New Paltz, NY —The State University of New York at New Paltz men's lacrosse team concluded its fall ball season Wednesday morning with its inaugural Turkey Shootout.
Teams were broken up into teams of four, playing 5-v-5 with short sticks, small goals and tennis balls for 12-minute, double-elimination games.
Sophomore attacker
Thomas Armetta captained the Detroit Neislers to victory after winning straight games to advance to the finals against Jeff's Angles. Fittingly both finals contenders were named after beloved assistant coaches in Dylan Neisler and Jeff Struzzieri.

"It feels great," Armetta said shortly after his team won the Turkey Shootout Championship. "I named this team the Detroit Neislers because I did it for my coach Neisler who deployed and the last thing he said to me was, 'Tom, never forget to floss your teeth.' … I had a ton of gummy worms and Red Bulls for him today and you know, it was a team effort. All of us came out there and we played today. I am really proud of them. I couldn't be prouder and I am happy to be a champion.
"There was zero doubt in my mind that we were going to win this championship, because once I saw my team I was like, 'we've got a bunch of studs.' And guess what? We never took a loss. So I guess I predict the future. Mystic Tom."
