Van Pelt Selected to Play in Second Annual Beyond Sports/WBCA Senior All-Star Game

| By:
Atlanta, GA – State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball senior Maddie Van Pelt was selected as one of 18 NCAA Division III seniors who will compete in the second annual Beyond Sports Women's Collegiate All-Star Game presented by the WBCA.

It's the second-straight year the Hawks were honored with a selection to the illustrious senior all-star game, as Van Pelt joins former teammate Lindsay Bettke to be chosen to play in the game. The all-stars were picked by a committee of head women's basketball coaches of NCAA Division III programs who are also members of the WBCA. All players were nominated by WBCA member coaches.

Van Pelt had a standout senior season for the Hawks, finishing with 12.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. She was named First-Team All-SUNYAC and had arguably her best outing in the conference championship game against SUNY Cortland, scoring a career-high 25 points and pulling down 13 rebounds to lift SUNY New Paltz to its second-straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title. The Montgomery, NY native was then named SUNYAC Tournament MVP for her efforts.

She and the Hawks earned an automatic bid in the NCAA tournament following their championship run, hosting the first two round of the tournament in the Hawk Center.

Van Pelt's Beyond Sports WBCA All-Star Game selection adds to an already impressive resume, as a four-year member of both the Hawks women's basketball and volleyball programs. Van Pelt currently holds four SUNYAC Championships (three with basketball, one with volleyball), three All-SUNYAC selections, SUNYAC Tournament MVP and AVCA All-Region honors with All-Region selections still to be announced for the 2019-20 basketball season.

The second annual Beyond Sports Women's Collegiate All-Star Game will be played at the Capital Center Performance Arena on the campus of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio on March 21 immediately preceding the NCAA Division III women's basketball national championship game. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. (EST).
