Meredith Dignan transferred from Towson University to the State University of New York at New Paltz and played two years for the Hawks women's volleyball team. She became a First-Team All-SUNYAC, American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) New York All-Region and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention selection, leading her team to a conference championship in 2018 where she was named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament MVP.
Since transferring to SUNY New Paltz Dignan made a lasting impression on the program, but all the while, the College had an even bigger influence on her today. Through her experience as a Hawk, Dignan talks about why there is only one SUNY New Paltz.
"As a transfer student and a member of the women's volleyball team at New Paltz, I immediately felt welcomed on this campus. From my professors to my fellow students, someone was always there when I needed help. The New Paltz community is caring and compassionate in a way that truly makes you feel at home. New Paltz is a special place that gives each individual the opportunity to excel not only in the classroom, but in life. After graduating from New Paltz, I know I've been provided with all the tools necessary to succeed in life. I'm proud to be a New Paltz alumni. I wouldn't have wanted to graduate from anywhere else because there truly is only one New Paltz."
